Make-up-I just need to wash it off, what else is there?

ideal-beauty-logo-01Many women forget that how you actually get your makeup onto your skin is by using sponges and brushes.  It’s extremely important to clean or replace your makeup sponges and brushes regularly.  They can pick up unwanted dirt, bacteria and oil which can be harmful to your skin and cause rashes or infections.  In addition, all cosmetics have a shelf life and should be replaced at least every 6-12 months.

Super Myth – Keep Your Skin Squeaky Clean

ideal-beauty-for-amazon We’ve all read articles on the importance of keeping your face clean to help prevent those pores from clogging up.  However, washing your face more than twice a day or using facial wash products that leave your face taut can actually be harmful to your skin.  Too many facial washes along with those harsh cleansers can rid your skin of the essential/natural oils needed to maintain healthy skin and could increase the risk of dehydrating your skin to the point of damage.  OUCH!  Avoid cleansers that contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) and ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS) as these contribute to the oil stripping process.  Instead, look for glucose based products or products made from coconut oil.  Some of these ingredients include coco betaine, cocamidopropyl betaine, coco glucoside, decyl glucoside and sucrose laurate as these are gentler on your skin.
