The quality of our skin and it’s appearance are directly related to how others perceive our age and attractiveness. The skin is the largest organ of the body and protects the warm and moist environment of all the structures beneath it. The primary role of skin is to protect us from the continuously changing environmental conditions. In addition, the skin also serves important roles in maintaining blood pressure and body temperature. However, along with other factors, the disruption and/or alteration of the skin is, in part, what causes the skin to become dry, wrinkled and irritated. For example, exposure to the sun or even water for extended periods, various soaps and chemicals can alter or disrupt the skin. With that said, understanding the structure and function of the skin (without being too technical) will go a long way in helping you to maintain a youthful, healthy and attractive appearance.
